What is
Vedic Meditation?
Vedic meditation is an effortless, natural form of meditation that's perfect for busy modern lives. If you can think thoughts, you can meditate.
There's no need to:
- Quiet your mind
- Focus or concentrate
- Sit in uncomfortable poses
It's designed for people just like you – those with hectic schedules who want to accomplish more while feeling less stressed. Nothing about it depends on picturing anything, so it works just as well if you have aphantasia.
The Life-Changing Benefits of Vedic Meditation
Our students report transformative results, including:

- Enhanced emotional stability
- Increased creativity and intuition
- Better overall health
- Stronger relationships with self and others
- A boosted immune system
But don't just take our word for it. Here's what some of our students have to say:
“Really happy that the Spring Meditation opened in Soho! I took a great 4-day meditation class with Maya — she was really helpful, kind, and willing to answer any questions that I had during the course or after it. Meditation is now a regular part of my life. […] Definitely recommend it and will keep coming back!”
“Maya helped to guide our non-profit organization's members through a 30-minute meditation. She was calm, professional, and so kind to all of our members. She helped keep us engaged through teaching us about meditation practices as well as walk us through some techniques on how we could carry out our meditation post-class. I would highly recommend The Spring Meditation for group sessions, and definitely request Maya as an instructor!”
“Absolutely happy that I took the course with Maya @ Spring Meditation. The studio is lovely and Maya is a fantastic teacher. She is patient, calm, accommodating and easy to learn from. I have been meditating every day since the course and feel better and better with each day. Thank you, Maya!”
“[…] Maya is seriously one of the best I've had the honor of working with. Relatable, reliable and knowledgeable, the perfect combo! […]”
“[…] This past weekend, I had the honor of exploring Veda 3 with Maya. She is without a doubt a knowledgeable, helpful and loving resource who aims to help people on their journey to acquire knowledge. She shared her wisdom, joy and kind-heartedness while guiding us through this portion of the Vedas. […]”

About Your Teacher: Maya Kumits
Maya Kumits was initiated by Thom Knoles and teaches Vedic Meditation in his lineage. She co-founded The Spring Meditation, a Vedic Meditation studio in Soho, New York City, where she taught the four-day course and led group sessions until the studio closed in October 2020. She now teaches independently from Gowanus, Brooklyn, alongside her Structural Integration practice.
Her students are mostly busy people who assumed meditation wasn't for them — the ones who can't sit still, can't stop thinking, or have tried mindfulness and quietly concluded they were bad at it. Vedic Meditation asks none of that of you, which is why it tends to stick.
“I’ve seen Vedic Meditation change lives – including my own. I can’t wait to share this powerful tool with you and watch as it transforms your life too.”
