Myofascial Release Therapy in Brooklyn for People Who’ve Tried Everything
You Feel Better, Move Freely, and Finally Get Relief in Gowanus, Brooklyn
Myofascial release therapy in Brooklyn
If you’re in pain, exhausted, or just feel off—but no one’s been able to help—you’re in the right place.
At Hello Alignment, we work with people who’ve tried PT, massage, acupuncture, and everything else—without lasting relief. Using a hands-on method called Structural Integration (a combo of myofascial release therapy + movement education + somatic dialogue), we help your body unwind deep tension, reset your nervous system, and start working the way it’s supposed to.
Whether you’re a rock climber dealing with nagging injuries, a desk worker with constant tightness, or someone who’s just done being told “everything looks fine”—this work is for you.
What Myofascial Release Therapy Actually Does
Slow, Sustained Work on the Tissue That Holds Your Shape
Fascia is the connective tissue wrapping every muscle, bone, and organ into one continuous web. When it dries out or binds down it holds your body in old shapes—a hitched hip, a braced shoulder, a side that never quite lengthens. You feel that as stiffness, as pain, or as not being able to take a full breath.
Myofascial release applies slow, sustained pressure so those restrictions can soften and reorganize. Delivered through Structural Integration—the field that Rolfing® and Hellerwork® belong to—it goes further than a standalone treatment: instead of chasing symptoms it works with how your entire structure is arranged, which is why the relief tends to hold rather than fade overnight.
Structural Integration isn’t just about bodywork —
it’s a full-body, movement-based approach to access your body’s potential.

How it works
At the core of our work is the understanding that everything is connected—your body, mind, emotions, and even your external environment all influence how you feel and move. SI helps you release the restrictions that hold you back, so you can feel great in your body and live with more presence and ease.
We use three essential components:
- Myofascial Release Therapy
- Deep-tissue techniques that target the fascia, the connective tissue of the body. By releasing areas of tension and restriction, your body naturally realigns, helping to ease pain and restore a sense of balance, comfort, and fluid movement.
- Movement Education
- Brings greater awareness to your posture and movement habits, helping break the old patterns that cause tension or misalignment. Simple, effective exercises keep the newfound ease and fluidity in your body, supporting long-term change.
- Somatic Dialogue
- Deepens your awareness of how emotional and mental states show up in your physical body, and vice versa. Recognizing the patterns between your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations empowers you to make choices that support your wellbeing and create greater alignment in both body and mind.

Hi, I’m Maya
I’m a Board-Certified Structural Integrator, a lifelong movement junkie, and an avid climber based in NYC.
I discovered Structural Integration through my own journey of managing the aches and pains that are common for athletes, which only get worse as we age. SI is my swear-by.
I’m inspired by the infinite complexity and mystery of our bodies. Practicing Structural Integration has given me a deeper understanding of how we can unwind tension, move with greater ease, and feel great — not just physically, but emotionally and energetically too.

Myofascial Release — Questions & Answers
What is myofascial release therapy?
Fascia is the connective tissue that wraps every muscle, bone, and organ into one continuous web. When it binds down, it holds your body in old shapes — a hitched hip, a braced shoulder, a side that never quite lengthens.
Myofascial release uses slow, sustained pressure to let those restrictions soften and reorganize, so the tissue can glide again.
How is this different from a deep-tissue massage?
A deep-tissue massage works muscle and is mostly aimed at how you feel when you get off the table.
This is fascial work delivered through Structural Integration, which means it’s paired with movement education and applied to the whole structure rather than the sore spot. Less chasing symptoms, more changing the arrangement that keeps producing them.
What happens during a session?
We begin with a conversation about your body — where it hurts, where it feels stuck, how it moves — followed by a posture and movement assessment.
Then the hands-on work, which is interactive: you’ll be guided through subtle movements while I work, and we’ll move between the table, a chair, and standing to reach deeper layers and test what’s changed.
We reassess at the end, and you’ll leave with simple movement homework to reinforce it.
Is myofascial release painful?
It’s deep work, but the goal is release, not endurance. Most people describe it as a productive ache rather than pain.
Communication is the whole game here — we work at a pressure that’s right for you, and you can change it at any point.
What does it help with?
Chronic tension and stiffness that keeps returning, old injuries that never fully settled, neck, back, and hip pain that scans call normal, postural patterns like rounded shoulders and a forward head, and the fatigue of a nervous system that won’t downshift.
If you’ve been told to just stretch more but you know something’s off, it’s worth a conversation.
How much does a session cost?
Each one-hour session is $240.
Unlike care where a practitioner spends a few minutes with you between rooms, this is a full hour of high-touch, one-on-one work built around your body — an investment in mobility and recovery rather than a quick fix.
Climbing gym members receive a 15% discount.
Is it covered by insurance?
Not by insurance, no. FSA and HSA funds generally work with a doctor’s note, and I can help you sort out that process.
How many sessions will I need?
Many people notice a meaningful shift after a single session. Deeper, more lasting change usually takes a series.
A structured 10-session series works the entire body systematically from head to toe; alternatively you can book as needed and return for tune-ups once things have settled.
How long is each session, and how often are they scheduled?
Each session runs 60 minutes, which leaves room for the bodywork, the movement education, and the dialogue that ties them together.
Sessions are held every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm — choose your slot during booking.
What should I wear?
Clothing you can move in that gives access to the body: fitted or loose shorts with a sports bra, or gym shorts.
Take off necklaces, bracelets, and watches, and put long hair up. Your comfort and privacy are respected throughout.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule and your deposit is refunded. With less than 24 hours’ notice the full session price is charged.
Appointments are cancelled on receipt of a cancellation email from our office. If you don’t get one, contact maya@helloalignment.com immediately to avoid a late charge.
