Bodywork in Brooklyn for People Who’ve Tried Everything
Structural Integration in Gowanus to Help You Feel Better, Move Freely, and Finally Get Relief
Why people come to the Gowanus studio
If you’re in pain, exhausted, or just feel off—but no one’s been able to help—you’re in the right place.
At Hello Alignment, we work with people who’ve tried PT, massage, acupuncture, and everything else—without lasting relief. Using a hands-on method called Structural Integration, I help your body unwind deep tension, reset your nervous system, and start working the way it’s supposed to.
Whether you’re a climber dealing with nagging injuries, a desk worker with constant tightness, or someone who’s just done being told “everything looks fine”—this work is for you.
What is Structural Integration?
A Hands-On Approach to Realign the Body and Relieve Long-Term Pain
Structural Integration (the field that Rolfing® and Hellerwork® belong to) works on your fascia—connective tissue that wraps around your muscles—to release stuck patterns, restore balance, and help your body move more freely.
Unlike massage, it doesn’t chase symptoms. It works on how your whole body is organized. Most people feel lighter, more open, and more themselves after just a few sessions.
Structural Integration isn’t just about bodywork —
it’s a full-body, movement-based approach to access your body’s potential.

How it works
At the core of our work is the understanding that everything is connected—your body, mind, emotions, and even your external environment all influence how you feel and move. SI helps you release the restrictions that hold you back, so you can feel great in your body and live with more presence and ease.
We use three essential components:
- Structural Bodywork
- Deep-tissue techniques that target the fascia, the connective tissue of the body. Releasing areas of tension and restriction lets your body naturally realign, easing pain and restoring a sense of balance, comfort, and fluid movement.
- Movement Education
- Brings greater awareness to your posture and movement habits, helping break the old patterns that cause tension or misalignment. Simple, effective exercises keep the newfound ease and fluidity in your body, supporting long-term change.
- Somatic Dialogue
- Deepens your awareness of how emotional and mental states show up in your physical body, and vice versa. Recognizing the patterns between your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations empowers you to make choices that support your wellbeing and create greater alignment in both body and mind.

Hi, I’m Maya
I’m a Board-Certified Structural Integrator, a lifelong movement junkie, and an avid climber based in NYC.
I discovered Structural Integration through my own journey of managing the aches and pains that are common for athletes, which only get worse as we age. SI is my swear-by.
I’m inspired by the infinite complexity and mystery of our bodies. Practicing Structural Integration has given me a deeper understanding of how we can unwind tension, move with greater ease, and feel great — not just physically, but emotionally and energetically too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where exactly is the studio?
61a 9th Street, Suite 5, right in the middle of Gowanus — a short walk from the F and G at Smith–9th Street and the R at Union Street.
It’s a serene, private space shared with Laura of LK Wellness, who offers acupuncture, So Thai Yin massage, and microneedling.
What is Structural Integration?
Hands-on work with fascia — the connective tissue running through your whole body — combined with movement education and somatic awareness.
It releases tension, improves posture, and builds real ease and balance. It’s in a class of its own, and it will leave you feeling better than before.
I’ve tried everything. Why would this work?
Because it isn’t aimed at the same target. PT rehabilitates an injury, massage relaxes muscle, acupuncture works the energetic system — all useful, none of them reorganizing how your body is put together.
When relief keeps wearing off, it’s usually because the underlying pattern never changed. That pattern is what this work addresses.
What happens during a session?
We talk first — how you feel, how you move, what’s bothering you — then I assess your posture and movement for the imbalances underneath it.
Sessions are interactive. You won’t just lie on the table: I’ll guide you through subtle movements while I work, and we’ll move between the table, a chair, and standing so you can feel what shifts in each. We talk throughout, about what you’re noticing and about how body and mind are tracking each other.
Before you go we reassess, and I’ll often give you a simple exercise to hold the change between sessions.
How much does a session cost?
Each one-hour session is $240.
That’s a full hour of high-touch, one-on-one work focused entirely on you — not a few minutes of a practitioner’s time. It’s built to create deep, lasting change by addressing your body’s particular restrictions and movement patterns, and it’s an investment in your long-term mobility and recovery.
Members of the neighbourhood’s climbing gyms receive a 15% discount.
Is Structural Integration covered by insurance?
It isn’t, but FSA and HSA funds can usually be used with a doctor’s note — and I can guide you through that process.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your body and your goals. Many people notice a meaningful improvement after one session; deeper transformation usually takes a series.
Some clients complete a structured 10-session series that works the entire body from head to toe. Others book as they need to and come back for periodic tune-ups. We’ll talk it through and build a plan that fits your life.
How long is each session, and when do they run?
Each session lasts 60 minutes — room enough for thorough bodywork, movement education, and dialogue about the mind-body connection.
Sessions are scheduled every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. You pick the time that suits you during booking.
What should I wear during my session?
Wear clothing that allows access to your body and that you can move around in: a sports bra with tight or loose-fitting shorts, or gym shorts.
Remove necklaces, bracelets, and watches, and put long hair up and out of the way. Your comfort and privacy will always be respected.
Is Structural Integration painful?
The work goes deep, but causing pain is never the goal — releasing tension effectively and comfortably is. Communication matters here, and we always work at a pressure level that feels right for you.
What’s your cancellation policy?
24 hours’ advance notice of a cancelled or rescheduled appointment is required for your deposit to be refunded and to avoid being charged.
With less than 24 hours’ notice you’ll be charged the full price of the session. Appointments are cancelled on receipt of a cancellation email from our office — if you don’t receive one, contact maya@helloalignment.com immediately to avoid late charges.
